View 20Museum Café

The Café with the view

of graveyard and garden.

Tree and tomb together.

A child plays

close to ghosts

in the undergrowth.

A squeaking pram-wheel

offers the sound of its imperfect motion

to old bones,

worn head-stones

and fading family inscriptions.

An orange Frisbee delights the dog

who later lifts

her leg to history.

The museum cafe was one of the most nostaligic places for me in all of Belfast (before it the museum closed for redesign). I have such fond memories of being brought there by my mother and remember being just facinated with the spooky locked graveyard that we could see. IN later years I just loved going there in the Autumn and seeing the beautiful autumnal views out of Botanic and Belfast. I hope you keep the Cafe in the same location. oh, and a better menu might help. Microwaved sausage rolls are great but a few more optiosn might be nice...lol
