Exhibitions and events

Since the Ulster Museum closed for refurbishment 8 exhibitions appeared in venues all over Northern Ireland. A major art exhibition Treasures from the North: Irish Paintings from the Ulster Museum was displayed in the National Gallery of Ireland. Venues in Northern Ireland included, Newry Museum
Carrickfergus Museum, Armagh County Museum, Hillsborough Castle, The Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum, Fermanagh County Museum, Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh, Springhill House Costume Gallery, Moneymore, Down County Museum, Cregagh Library, Belfast and Lisburn City Libraries.

Libraries

The Ulster Museum outreach programme extended to 51 libraries in Northern Ireland with a programme that ran from Jan 2007 to August 2008. In that time five panel displays relating to various aspects of the Ulster Museum's collections were on display in some of the libraries, while others hosted talks and handling sessions.

From Jan 2007 to August 2008, 60 talks and handlings sessions were held in libraries throughout Northern Ireland with 1,688 participants.
