Saturday 15 March 2008 until Monday 29 September 2008
Exhibition from the Museum's Applied Art collection in Springhill House
A selection of printed cotton dresses from the Museum's Costume collection, illustrating a variety of printing techniques, such as block and roller printing. The dyer's skills are also evident in the costumes, showing the unusual colour combinations achieved during the mid-19th century. Sprigged and floral patterns are displayed with more abstract, and surprisingly modern-looking, fabrics. Accessories from the same era - shoes, handbags and corsets - are also on display to complement the dresses.
On show in Springhill House Costume Gallery, Moneymore, County Londonderry, 15 March-29 September 2008
