
THE PICTURE LIBRARY
The Ulster Museum can supply images of the works in its collections. The service is only available through the Museum's Picture Library, a valuable and versatile resource for publishers, advertising agencies, researchers, teachers, students, and general public.
Images from our collections have been used all over the world and in many ways: books, catalogues, academic and educational publications, calendars and greetings cards, film, television and video productions, interior design in restaurants, hotels and public buildings, album covers, advertising and promotional campaigns, as well as by students, teachers and individual members of the public for research or personal use.
THE COLLECTIONS
The Museum's collections are surprisingly extensive, covering fine and applied art, archaeology, ethnography, local history and natural sciences:

FINE ART
Irish painting and sculpture, 17th-20th century
British painting and sculpture from the 18th century to the 20th century
20th century European and American art
Italian, Dutch and Flemish Old Masters, particularly the 17th century
Watercolours, drawings and prints, particularly Irish

APPLIED ART
Historic glass, silver and ceramics, particularly Irish
Contemporary glass and ceramics
Historic textiles, particularly Irish
Historic and contemporary costume and fashion
Jewellery from the 16th century to the 20th century, particulary 19th century
Irish dolls and toys from the later 18th century to the 20th century

ARCHAEOLOGY
Pre-17th century archaeological material, particularly of Northern Irish origin
Significant collections of Irish Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Medieval artefacts

WORLD CULTURES
Non-Irish archaeological and ethnographic material
Significant collections of American Indian and Polynesian artefacts
Pre-17th century maritime material found within Northern Ireland waters
The outstanding collection of artefacts and treasure from wrecks of the Spanish Armada of 1588

HISTORY
Over 50,000 historical and topographical photographs, notably the Welch and Hogg Collections
Social, political and industrial history of the north of Ireland from c1600
Militaria, memorabilia, coins and medals
Maps, paintings, drawing, postcards

NATURAL HISTORY
Flora and fauna, particularly of the north of Ireland
Wildlife art

PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING
Works from the Museum's collections have been photographed and filmed for use in television, documentaries, videos and educational programmes.
The galleries have also been used as locations for film and television dramas.
All enquiries on commercial photography and filming should be directed to the Picture Library.
