Local finds
Many important, and sometimes spectacular, fossils found in Northern Ireland now reside in the Ulster Museum's collections. Some of the most exciting have been found by members of the general public who have generously donated them to the museum.
Image: Skull of an ichthyosaur - the four pieces that together make up this 200 million year old fossil were found separately at Minnis, on the Co. Antrim coast, by Emma McIlroy and the late George Barker. Both generously donated the pieces to the Ulster Museum.
