Renaissance jewellery from the Girona
From the Girona came a fabulous array of Renaissance jewellery and gold and silver coins; from La Trinidad Valencera, a spectacular armoury of cannon and ships' equipment and from the Santa Maria de la Rosa, two pewter plates bearing the name of the Captain of the Infantry on board, Captain Ruiz Matute. A selection of artefacts from all three ships is on permanent display.
Gold mount set with a lapis lazuli cameo showing the face of a Roman Emperor. Eleven of these were found on the wreck site of the galleass Girona by the diving team under the direction of Robert Stenuit in 1968. This twelfth cameo was found by a licensed diver in 1998, thirty years after the original find.
