As a small child I lived in Belfast and every day during the summer I would head up to the museum with my brother, sister and friends. I loved just wandering round all the exhibits which fascinated me. The mummy room always frightened me and I would go through this at great speed. My favourite was not an exhibit, but a painting on a main wall of the museum of transitions in time - stone age into modern day. I would stare at it for a long time. Although I was only 5 years old when we moved away from Belfast my love of history and the museum were already instilled in me and I went on to study History and Archaeology in Queen's and get my Masters in Cultural Heritage and Museum studies - I'm so glad we were welcomed and not chased away by the staff. Thank you.
